Ashley and Brian Grieve 8-15-09

Ashley and Brian were married August 15 th. Their ceremony and reception was held at Brian’s parents’ home in Fowlerville. Ashley was surprised with a horse and carriage from her mother-in-law. It defiantly made her feel like a princess. Although it was one of the hottest days this summer so far the guests didn’t seem to mind.
Ashley and Brian’s reception tent turned out great! Linens and chair covers were provided by Candlelight Expressions.
The cake was absolutely amazing! Ashley’s cake topper was actually her mother’s cake topper. It was so sweet of Ashley to use her mother’s cake topper. Yes the cake was beautiful but more importantly it tasted unbelievable! It was defiantly one of the best cakes I have had! There cake was provided by Naomi Batterbee, who is a baker at Eagle Eye in Flint. She can be reached at naomibatterbee@hawkhollow.com.

Bouquets and cake flowers were provided by Barbara E Darling. She can be reached at darlingren@netzero.net. The bouquets were gorgeous and Barbara was so sweet. She even provided an extra corsage and boutonniere just in case an extra one was needed.
Shawn Cox from Awesome Entertainment was well…awesome! He did such a great job. The dance floor was packed until the very end. He played every request from rap to oldies. He really knows how to please a crowd. Shawn can be reached at 1COOLDJ@GMAIL.COM.

Photographer was provided by TS Photo Studio. Tom Spooner and his wife were amazing. I can’t wait to see their work!

Hair and makeup was provided by Kim from Bridal Beauty on Location. Words can’t describe how great Kim is! She does a fantastic job every time! Ashley was stunning!
Congratulations Ashley and Brian!

Dina and Matt 7-18-09

Dina and Matt were married on July 18 th at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Ann Flint. Their reception was held at The Flushing Valley Country Club located in Flushing. The staff was amazing and the food was very good.
Photography was provided by Imaginz Photographic Studio. Imaginz is a husband and wife team that are absolutely wonderful. Not only are Jen and Jason extremely nice they take beautiful pictures! Please visit their blog for more amazing pictures!
Hair and makeup was done at Euphoria Salon in Flushing. Dina was a gorgeous bride! Limo service was provided by Indian Trails. The driver was extremely helpful and friendly. I highly recommend Indian Trails. Their DJ was from Black Tie Productions. The DJ John did a great job keeping the dance floor packed. The cake was provided by Tasty Layers. It was the perfect summer cake that tasted equally as good as it looked. Flowers were provided by Village Florist also located in Flushing.
Congratulations Dina and Matt! Thank you for letting me part of your special day!

Dress Codes, Weddings and YOU!

The rules are this:

* If you're a guest, and you're invited to a wedding in the middle of the day, men should wear business suits, dark in winter, light in summer. The women should wear beautiful suits or dresses, cut to the knee or below, with very little glitz. If the wedding is held in temple or church, the attire should not be flashy or provocative.

* If a formal or semi-formal reception is held hours after the wedding ceremony ends, in the evening, for example, guests (if able) are required to change into flashier evening attire, which may include cocktail or long dresses for women and tuxes and business suits for men, respectively.

* If invited to a semi-formal evening affair, men wear business suits; women short or mid-calf cocktail dresses, dressy pants' attire, etc.

* Formal weddings, held in the evening, are a different story. These "black tie" affairs require guests to come formally dressed. Women wear fancy long, or short, or mid-calf gowns. Men wear tuxes, no exceptions (they may also wear white dinner jackets in summer of tropical climates)!

These rules also hold true for the family members of the bride and groom!

Moral of the Story: When it comes to a wedding, dress appropriately and make everyone proud of you.

Happy Wedding Planning!

Angie & Steve 4-4-09

Angie and Steve Smitka were married on April 4th at St. Augustine Lutheran Church in Troy. Ceremony music was provided by Panache Entertainment. I highly recommend Panache Entertainment, they did a fabulous job! Their reception was held at the beautiful Grosse Pointe War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms. Linens and chair covers were rented from Candlelite Chair Covers. The linens and chair covers were absolutely amazing and they matched perfectly with the centerpieces that were provided by Daisies Wedding Designs.

Angie and Steve did not have a traditional wedding cake instead they had cupcakes. The cupcakes were provided by Christine’s Cakes and Pastries located in Shelby Township and they tasted amazing! The cupcakes were chocolate with a cream filling on top covered in chocolate frosting. They were very similar to a Hostess cupcake but 100 times better!
Their photographer was Dionne from The Shooting Gallery. Dionne does phenomenal work! Here a couple of my favorite engagement pictures that Dionne took, I borrowed them from her Blog : ) I am anxiously waiting to see their wedding pictures posted.
Here is a picture of Angie and Steve posted on Deux Adore’s Blog. Angie and her bridesmaids had their hair and makeup done by Deux Adore. They all looked beautiful!
Congratulations Angie and Steve, your wedding was beautiful! Thank you for letting me be part of your big day!

Rachel’s Bouquet Painting

Congratulations on your wedding Rachel! Rachel was married March 14, 2009. Her bouquet consisted of deep red Baccara Roses. Once the flowers were pressed they became a lovely deep purple. I also included daisies from her daughter’s bouquet. The daisies had bright pink tips but once dried the pink became burgundy. Rachel said she likes burgundy and deep grape so I kept the colors deep and rich.

New Year New Blog

I attempted to start a blog last year but with my summer wedding and the arrival of our second baby I found very little time to update my blog. My new year’s resolution is to keep on top of my blog!

Here is a little information about myself…

I’m Tammara Kane and I am the owner of Grand Jour Events Wedding and Event Planning. I have been planning weddings for the last three years. I started out by planning weddings for family members and friends until other brides-to-be began to contact me through referrals. Although I am relatively new to the wedding planning business, this is truly my passion. While planning my own wedding I realized that the Wedding Planning business is where I belong. It’s not only something that I love to do but it’s something that I am very good at!
